Can you smoke a banana??

Sorry, that the title is misleading but it has some relevance.

I've heard that if you scrap the inside of a banana peel, dry it, then smoke it, it will make you high.

I'm not sure whether this is true or not.

Believe it or not, most of the weed found in everyones back yard, if smoked, can get you high. This is not because of the chemicals in the plants but because the smoke, the CO2, in a gaseous form along with some other gases can stimulate your brain. So for banana peel it might be true.

Old army veteran told me that they got a lot of bananas at training. They didn't scrape of the inside of the peel but actually on the banana (fruit) self there are little strips that run the length of it.If you peel those of and got enough of it, he said when smoked caused hallucinating effects. How true it was, no one knows...

my ex-boyfriend was a prison guard and has told me stories about people   that as a replacement for tobatobaccoam not sure if it gets you high or not

I smoked a banana once. Hung it in a room with smouldering wood chips on the floor. It was bloody horrible. Ruined my custard.

It won't make you high but it can be used like paper to put tobacco in. I saw people in Timor doing just this

the myth(?) stems (sic) from a belief that banana 'strings' contained small amounts of 'bufotenine' (google it) (toad mucus)

A friend of mine grated and smoked banana peel (I saw him do it) and he said all he got was a colossal headache, so I guess the answer's no.
