I want to participate in a marathon coming up soon, but I'm a smoker... and I can't go that long without lighting up. Are there rules against smoking while running/walking??

  1. so you do a marathon to be healthy

and you smoke while doing it?

well that sort of defeats the purpose really

whether there are rules or not, im sure it will be frowned upon and if they dont have a rule its robably because nobody has had the need to smoke while running a marathon

    seriously just quite dude

    hope that helped =]

p.s you will do better in your race if you arent a smoker

  2. Well. I'm pretty sure you might the only one who is a smoker that wants to run a marathon. That's the last thing that a runner would want to do. You might as well not participate  because that will make it difficult for you. Might even want to think about quitting. Many benefits await you if you just stop.

  3. Lindsay lohan does it.

  4. Now seems like a good time quit.

  5. yeah, whenever im running marathons i like to have a bud and a marlboro just to wake me up.

  6. dude, smoking is terrible for u and u will get a better marathon time if u STOP! what's the point of running 26 miles, when ur  just gonna have a cigarette. STOP before u are not healthy

  7. NO there are not.  But just like you would not smoke next to someone eating a meal you probably would not want to smoke next to someone that is gasping for every little bit of oxygen they could possibly get in there lungs to continue their marathon run.  Its rude as a runner to do anything that would put another runner uneasy....  I personally have to hold my breath when I walk next to someone that is smoking, could not imagine passing someone in the marathon and having to hold my breath.  I've finished races and inhaled someones second hand smoke at the finish line while trying to sprint to a good finish, that sucked...

  8. not really

  9. Smoking will really affect your cardiovascular output and in the long term lead to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder, if lung cancer doesn't get you first. But anyways, I would say don't do it because it will p**s off all of the other runners around you. Plus, running while smoking isn't exactly the safest thing you can do.
