  1. Let me try it out: if they were to be solved separately

                             5(x+3)=-10

    open the bracket:5x+15=-10

    gather like terms:5x=-10-15

                             5x=-25

    divide both sides by 5:x=-5

    if the same rule is applied in the second the ans will be 9

    But if they were solved simultaneously:x=-5

                                                            x=9

                                         when added:2x=4

                           divide both sides by 2:x=2

  2. Assuming that those are two different math problems, your answers are below.

    5 (x+3) = -10

    x + 3 = -2

    x = -5 (This is your first answer)

    and

    -2x + 5 = -13

    -2x = -18

    x = 9 (This is your second answer)

  3. 5(x + 3) = -10 ← distribute the 5

    5x + 15 = -10 ← subtract 15 from both sides

    5x = -25 ← divide both sides by 5

    x = -5 ← final answer

    -2x + 5 = -13 ← subtract 5 from both sides

    -2x = -18 ←multiply both sides by -1

    2x = 18 ← divide both sides by 2

    x = 9 ← final answer

    Good luck in your studies,
