  1. x=sqaureroot -22

  2. (x + 5)^2 - 3 = 0

                  +3    +3

    add 3 to both sides

    (x+5)^2 = 3

    Take the square root of both sides to get rid of exponent

    x + 5 = sqroot of 3

        -5         -5

    subtract 5 from each side

    x = the sqroot of 3   - 5

  3. (x+5)^2=3

    (x+5)=+/- sqrt(3)

    x= -5 +/- sqrt(3)
