  4. There probably isn't any veterinarian in the world that would spay a dog while it's pregnant. It's not impossible, but you would seriously harm the dog, and kill the pup inside, following the lines of animal cruelty.

  6. While you can spay a female while she's pregnant, there are 2 issues with which you need to contend:

    1.  This, of course, ends the chances for a life for the pups; and

    2.  Because the female has so much more of a blood supply going to the uterus being pregnant, this is a much more dangerous situation for the Mama's life - you take a chance on loosing her and the puppers....

  8. Yes, but it is basically an abortion for the dog. Spaying involves removing the uterus, which is where the puppies are growing. I would suggest getting her spayed after she has the pups, especially if it is more than a third of the way through the pregnancy.

Theres no doubt that the surgery involved in spaying the dog would kill the offspring, there is absolutely no chance of survival for them, it would also risk the life of the mother if she's pregnant, many complications can arise. The dog should only be spayed after the pups have been weened and they are no longer dependant of the mother for milk.

  19. Well, yes.  This will sound horrible but years ago my English Bully got out and got pregnant.  I had no idea she was pregnant until she started showing. If you know anything about bullies you know that giving birth for them is very hard and most of the time they need a C-section.  I didn't want her to go through that so we had the puppies aborted and she was fixed.  I know it's horrible but I was concerned for my dog.

  22. Yes you can.  It is done routinely when unplanned breedings occur and at shelters where they cannot care for another litter of pups.
