Can you spay a dog who is pregnant?

im not sure if my dog is, but im getting her checked in the next week or two. but i also want to spay her. but if she is really pregnant, will spaying her while having pups in her be unhealthy, cruel, or what?

You can spay her while she's pregnant (depending on how far along she is).

Is it cruel? That's a personal opinion. Do you want or even have the time for pups?

Unhealthy? No.

There was a cat in our neighborhood who decided to live at my place and she was having litter after litter after litter...to the point it just seemed cruel that she was constantly pregnant. We had her spayed even when she had just gotten pregnant w/ another litter. I don't feel that it was cruel at all. I mean when her kittens became independent she was pregnant again.

Spaying a dog who has just become pregnant is not cruel or dangerous.  The fertilized eggs are smaller than this ( . )

The only difference from a regular spay is that the vet will charge a little bit more because the surgery is a bit trickier to avoid bleeding.

Vets do this all the time- if your vet has not spayed a pregnant female or a female in heat seek another vet who has.

Your dog will be just fine.  Please make the appointment as soon as possible-  I have read your questions and I agree with Mr. P's Person, your dog could have a uterine infection that is causing symptoms of a false pregnancy.  If her health is at risk you need to go sooner rather than later.

Yes you can spay her while she's pregnant. If she is the sooner you do it the better so I would have it done right away. No it's not cruel. It's responsible.
