Can you squint in most eye exams?

When you are reading that chart with the letters, will the eye doctor let you squint at it to read it?

  4. i don't really know WHY you would want to, unless you don't want the right prescription... keep your eyes as relaxed as you can during the test, and be sure to be COMPLETELY honest if you want the right prescription. it's not BAD if you can't see a letter, and being honest helps the doctor determine what strength is right for you.

  5. Most people do until they put the right lenses in the phoropter that let you see without squinting. Are you trying to cheat the test? That would be goofy. Why go to the doctor if you do not really want to know what is going on with your eyes. Most people cannot pull one over on the eye doctor. Don't waste his time or your own.
