Can you stamp a canvas backpack?

I want to create a unique backpack. I thought it would be easy to just make a simple sponge stamp and then stamp with different color of paint. Do you have to use fabric paint? Or can you use acrylic?

You can use acrylic paint, although on light fabric it might crack. On canvas, it would probably be ok. You can also buy fabric "medium" in the acrylic paint section of a craft store that you mix with the paint to make it less likely to crack. But like I said, it probably will be fine, especially since you are stamping with it.
