Can you stand a Tivo box up on its end?

Question

Instead of keeping our Tivo box in its normal horizontal position, we'd like to stand it up on its end so that it doesn't take up so much space. Will doing so hurt it?

The main working hardware in any DVR including Tivo's is a hard drive like the one in your computer so the orientation doesn't matter.  Just make sure it is secure and well ventilated and you should be all set!

Well, nothing inside will be affected by doing this, however, the Tivo has ventilation ports on the sides of its case which you shouldn't cover up.

The Tivo also isn't designed to be stood up on end, meaning its case isn't designed for it, so if you DO decide to try it, be sure the case is secured so that it won't flop over (which would DEFINITELY be bad.)
