  1. i never heard of that before.

but it would be awesome if you could!

  2. Yes you can; we tried it in my sixth grade class. I didn't think it would work, but it really did!

  3. google it :)

  4. it works! its awesome! but u need a flat surface.

  5. Eggs can be stood on end any time of the year. This has nothing to do with the Equinox.

Teachers that teach that are the reason our kids are behind in public schools. As you can tell by all these answers from kids that learned it in public school. Either the teachers are stupid or they are using lies to teach about the Equinox. Which ever it is it`s wrong.

    Its an old wives tale.

    Glad you asked

  6. I've done it.  The egg stands up for about a minute - and then falls over.

  7. Balancing an egg is a skill that can be learned. Once you learn it, you can do it on any day of the year.

  8. A talented balancer can do it any time - but you only see the news people on TV trying it on March 21, thanks to the urban legend.

There's no "magical balancing" caused by the earth being in a particular spot in it's journey around the sun, or by the earth being at a particular "angle" - the tilt of the earth's axis is the same every day.

You don't see pencils, toothpicks, etc. magically standing up on end on March 21 - You don't feel particularly "not clumsy" on that day, do you?

Here's a secret trick - shake the egg when people aren't looking, which scrambles the yolk and white. You'll find it easier to balance that way. Or place the egg in a small pile of salt, and carefully blow most of the salt away.

  9. It is true and have photos to prove it we do it every year just b/c thats the only time we can! Say what you will but till you do it only then you'll know othrwise...

One time ours stood up for 24 hours, ours have all stood up for much longer then 1 min...
