Can you stand on the equator in Ecuador?

How do you get there? Is there a bus from Quito, do you have to rent a car? Is there a marker for the equator in the Galapagos islands? Can you tell you are on the equator in any way other than just by them having some kind of marker? Is it true that there are no tides, no twilight? And which way does water go down the drain if you're right on the equator? And what about the night sky?

it is is close to Quito, you can take a normal bus and taking a tour is not needed. entrance fee is cheap and you have many things there. it is like a complex with souvenir shops, restaurants... water goes clockwise, at least here in Quito that we are in the middle. there are tides and there is twilight, but this last one is common only in the morning, in the evening it is not. about the night sky you can see almost all the stars as you are in the middle. in Quito there is an observatory built around the 1880 where you can go and see many many stars and things. if you go outside of the city you can see also the stars and it is amazing. for photos of the middle of the world look for "monumento a la mitad del mundo"

  3. I didn't c that drain! and we had a tour guide :(
