Wet Florida Mornin’ – A Partenza Represa

By C.S. Scotkin

Gators and snakes swimming down Main

Main streets in those counties northern

Northern folks may think this a pain

Pain filled, wet Florida mornin’

Fay, no lady, no one’s delight,

Delight? Think well when’ere you pray

Pray sun to come, most welcome sight

Sight not seen for many a day.

A day, quote Will, “So foul and fair”

Fair chance, none, to dry out today

Today, much moisture in the air

The air, too drenched for any play.

  1. As I watch the dogs run through the dew and water my own plants I wonder why that rain won't stop here but then I figure I wouldn't get to watch the splash run down the stem of the lily and when you have Lillie's and dogs and dew you have

    something.

  2. Rain, rain...please visit  nearest drain

go away, go away...the ark ain't ready

and hard to build with wettish brain

rain, rain...go away, you are just a pain!

Cheer up!  A good day to pen poems.  Gloom always helps introspection.  Stay dry. As to your poem...a ray of sunshine.  The word 'northern' and its use bothered me at first but the more I reread, yes it makes sense.

  3. My dad lives in Florida; I just remembered that--I'll have to email him (we don't talk much).

Still raining uh? That is a bummer. Too many consecutive days with out sun IS depressing (scientifically). Hang in there, at least your producing some good work you'll be able to read again when it's hot and dry (like that's ever gonna happen down there). Your poems are like getting much needed rain on this end.

  4. The weather report may be disheartening, but your reporting is always appreciated. Why...it's sheer poetry!

    When will..........................The rain

    The Flood.........................Eternal

    Ever cease.......................It drives me insane

    And sunshine....................If only it would

    Return...............................G... me release.

'Tis said a little suffering is good for the soul.  Your soul must be very well indeed!  And thanks to you, ours just got a little better.
