I'm 15 and want to start ballet (i've been thinking about it for a while) but I have almost no previous experience. I did a little when I was very young but that's about it. I just want to start it because I think ballet is beautiful and it's something I really want! How often do you think I would have to go to classes etc. for it to really make a difference? Also, can you do exams/grades, etc to get into ballet school? Any info at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I live in the UK btw

  1. ya you can start ballet whenever you will proabably have it at least two times a week, it all depends on the studio you decide to go to

  2. Of course! There are normally teen ballet classes at your studio for people like you that want to do ballet give it a try! It's a lot of fun!

  3. Sure, people do it all the time.  3 times a week would help you advance quickly.  BUT, if you want to pursue ballet as a career, it will be very difficult.  Dancers bodies go through physical changes at an early age that will no longer be possible for you.  It would be very challenging for you to perform at a professional level, even with a lot of hard work.  Better to do it for fun.

  4. Well I am 13 years old and I tried to start ballet this year, and found it EXTREMELY difficult to keep up, the teacher would say to do a sache torgete pirouette, then a bunch of other things, then expect us to do them, without telling/showing us how to do them. Everyone else knew them but me. I would suggest not, but you could always try a summer classes, because most summer ballet calsses don't have a recital, they just work on moves and tecnique. Try going to danceendeavors.com, they have wonderful ballet classes, try to get into a ballet class with Juli M as the teacher, she is a wonderful teacher. Hope this helped you! -Shelby W.

  5. i was in ballet for so many years, and i was in starter classes and there were girls that were 16. you will be fine there. It actually is better, because you learn, and understand better.
