I bought a BEAUTIFUL wool coat at an estate sale this weekend (very inexpensive too). Fits me like it was custom made for me too! Anyway, it's not dirty but I am a big fan of cleaning anything I buy (even if I buy it in a store) before wearing it... Not that I would be wearing it anytime soon, its pretty hot here in southern california... but before I put it away and forget about it I kinda wanted to clean it... Ok, my question is - I have one of those steamers - you know the type, it's like a vacuum with a hose - and that hose pumps steam out... It works great on all my clothes... My question is - if I use that on this coat, since it's 100% wool, will I shrink it? Its a coat made by Elgee of London, made in England - in case that makes a difference. Any input I would greatly appreciate as I don't want to ruin the coat. If I have to dry clean, I will... I just hate to do that if I can quickly steam it - as it's not dirty... Thanks!
