Can you still get carpet sweepers? i have not seen any in the shops?

Pop down to your local car boot sale.  Usually a couple or more on sale,you'll get a real bargain, have some fun and exercise, but be warned, you may have to pay..... erm... £1 or even as much as £1.50!

You can, try Bed Bath & Beyond, otherwise Swiffer makes a great little rechargeable vacuum about the size of a carpet sweeper.

Mostly they were used in restaurants, so as not to disturb diners with loud vacuum sounds when they were eating, and the carpet needed a little touch up.

Use a regular vacuum or portable vacuum, they suck up more and are more sanitary. The sweepers sometimes can grind more stuff into the carpet fibers.
