Can you still get in the police force even if one of your family members have been in prison?

my uncle has been in prison but i just want to know if i could go in the police force when im older?

  7. Yes, it is possible for you to join a police agency, but if you plan on applying to a Federal agency your family history and known associates would come into play. It's different with local and State police forces because they are all in need of more officers. You can improve your chances with all levels of government by serving in the military.

  8. Yes you can.  The background investigation that would be conducted if you make it that far in the process will be about you, not your relatives.  If you make it to the background investigation, make sure that you disclose any and all problems you have, honesty is the best policy.
