  1. In general yes, but not everyone is a candidate for laser eye surgery.

Make an appointment for screening and evaluation with the Ophthalmologist. He or she will tell if you are qualified for the surgery.

  2. yes

  3. The laser doesn't really care if you have worn glasses or not.

After the initial consultation with the Opthalmologist at the laser clinic, they will do all the necessary tests to see if you are a candidate.

  4. You have to schedule to get screened to see if you are a candidate... your corneas might not be thick enough, etc.

I don't see why you would get it if you never had to wear contacts or glasses

  5. Well, this depends on what you mean by 'bad' eyesight. If you are near or far sighted and just never bothered to go to a doctor about it, this will not preclude you from the surgery. However, you will have to be diagnosed with a loss of vision to get the surgery (obviously). Some docs insist trying glasses and contacts before they will consider you a candidate for surgery. Some docs like to see you hit a certain level of sight loss (your prescription strength) before the surgery can be considered either viable or necessary or both.

Of course, some docs won't take any of these precautions -- and those are doctors you should run away from.
