Can you still get the original Fosters Lager "Oil Cans"brewed in Australia anywhere in the U.S.?

he only ones i see are the knock offs brewed in canada.

  1. Perhaps, but seeing as Fosters is now brewed in 9 countries including US and Canada, territorial distribution and exporting agreements may make it tough.  According to Fosters, the beer is brewed with the same yeast and hops as it is down under.

    However, I feel your pain.  After starting to drink the 'oil cans' in 1976 (they have been in USA since 1972), I noticed a difference, when I tried a Fosters circa 1992.  I remarked that it tasted like Molsons, then reading the label, that is who was brewing it at that time.  The full-bodiness and head of the original oil cans were lacking.

    To add insult to injury, within the US website fostersbeer.com, the privacy policy & terms and conditions is directly linked to MillerCoors LLC, further proving a US Fosters is NOT a true Fosters at all.

    You may want to try to get a hold of Carton's other brands, like Carlton Crown Lager or Fosters Special Bitters, or of course, Stella Artois.
