i dont think so mine is in need of renewal too and i am dying to go pick up water but i dont dare try so i guess i will have to go renew first!

Yes and no....You can go into the store as long as you have your card and shop.  But when you get up to the register a block will come up telling the cashier that you have to renew.  If the Supervisor or Manager that is called over does their job you will HAVE to renew right there at the register or else you can't make a purchase.  

There is never ever a 5 or 7% charge if you are not a member because it is a membership warehouse and that is never done.  That is the whole point.  You have to have a current membership to shop there.

The one day pass is a very rairly used practice so I would not count on it.  Just shop and when you go up to pay spend the $50 for a year membership and you won't have to worry about it for a year.

Yes.  There is an extra charge (5 percent at most stores, but occasional 7 percent), but you can shop there.  But here's another idea:  sometimes you can go there and get a temporary (1-day) pass.  Costco does this now and then to encourage people to try them out.  If they are running that promotion--and they do it a lot--you pay either no extra charge, or a smaller amount than usual.

I know you can shop online without a card--you pay a 5% upcharge.  Don't know about in the store.  I wouldn't think so.
