  1. I think the requirements are that you need to have had at least one child!

  2. I think you have to have a child.  If I am not mistaken it has to do with the condition of your cervix or your uterus (it is inserted directly into your uterus and hurts like holy heII).  You should talk to your doctor, they will help you decide the best birth control for you.

  3. Yes you can. I JUST came back from the clinic, where they inserted one in me. (dealing with cramps right now tho). No kids. I never was even pregnant.

I'm sorry to disprove everyone, but I did, in fact, just get one today

I asked them the same question, & they told me that Mirena only RECOMMENDS that you wait til you have a kid, but it's not a requirement. I spoke to Planned Parenthood about this & they're the ones who did the insertion.

I also didn't have to pay a cent (besides a donation), cuz I don't have insurance or income (bad economy).

Some people do pay different amounts though, depending on their income.

    You're good to go!

They also suggested that I wait til my period because the cervix is more softer while mentruating.

When they insert it, it feels like severe cramps...literally. They say it'll probably cramp more since I never had kids.  Take a IBprofin before you get it done.

    Hope this helps ya!

  4. That requirement is true. I went to the doctor asking if I could get Mirena & she told me that I have to have had at least one child or have been pregnant because those things help make the cervix open up so that the Mirena can be placed properly & successfully without a lot of pain & discomfort
