Thinking of buying Sony model SON CDXGT520 car stereo & the adapter cable so song ID's etc. will show up on the head unit, but wondering if I can still use the iPod's controls to select songs, etc. instead of the head unit's. Also, can you control the iPod's shuffle feature through the head unit, or just navigate playlists?

  1. It depends on the head unit...most of them you still have to control it with the ipod still.

If you need an ipod aux cable check these guys out

  2. Some do and most don't.  Basically most MP3 / iPod compatible stereos just have AUX input.

    Good Luck...

  3. if the car ect.. is ipod ready then you should be able to do every thing with the head unit ect... ipod ect ...... shuttle ect...   but i would still read the owners manual befor i try to do anything ect......
