  1. No.  If you do not notify them before the flight to change your itinerary, if you do not fly the first leg, they will cancel your seat on the return flight.

  2. Is it a domestic or International ticket.....is it a refundable or nonrefundable fare?

If you bought it online, some websites that sell tickets have the rule.....use it of lose it...no changes and no refunds.

Now if you did not buy it on one of those websites this is the usual rule.........

If you have a nonrefundable ticket and you do not use the outbound flight the return is not valid for use.

Now with that said.... if you have not used your outbound flight you now have an unused ticket and that my friend can be exchanged for a new one way ticket.

But be prepared to pay a penalty if you have a nonrefundable fare and historically one way fares are more expensive than roundtrip fares but not always.

Without knowing where you bought it or what airline you are flying...... and not knowing what type of fare you have, this is the best answer I can give  :-)
