  1. Nope it is not possible here read this, it has some logical reasons why not, http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/arti...

  2. No

  3. nope.

however, in Iceland, they did manage to change the course of a lava flow, and saved a town / harbor.

poured very large amounts of water, for several days, on the advancing edge, probably starting on one side, and slowly the stream turned.

  4. Unless you're talking about the volcanos you make out of paper mache then no

  5. I don't think so.......... Its prsure that has built up...  so intense that it can change the landscape so No, We can't even get close

  6. well, anythings possible, just virtually infinitely impractical. i guess it would be possible to put in enormous incredibly heat resistant plates. Maybe...tungsten/carbon combo plate thats..... 300 or 400 miles.... squared... but that'd only work against super volcanoes. You could put in some "Taps" to relieve pressure, but like i said, very impractical.

You could make sure that there is never an extreme build up of pressure, by removing any boulders, dirt blocking the flow of lava, etc.

    But really? No. ya cant.

    [edit]

Keep in mind, the article says that there is no concievable way to stop an eruption AFTER it has formed. There may be ways to prevent ways from extinct volcanoes becoming active again. However, it would require huge amounts of government funding, and no such technology exists.
