Can you stop certain people from hearing your outgoing message on a Verizon cell phone?

When my girlfriend and I started to have some relationship trouble, I would receive a computer message instead of her usual message. She would usually call me back so she wasn’t totally avoiding me. When I asked her about this change, she kind of brushed it off. Recently, our relationship got better and I started to receive her usual message again. Since the message is the same as last time, I tend to think that it was always there, I just wasn't getting that message.

So, is it possible to block certain people from hearing your usual outgoing message and have them hear a computer message instead?

I would ask her but she has a tendency to lie in order to avoid uncomfortable issues.
