If you study Law in a USA Law school are you qualified in England or do you have to complete further courses.

Is it better to study in england...it is just the fact that I would like to live temporarily in USA but want an outstanding degree. : )

  1. If you study Law in the USA, you will study USA law, which is not the same as British law--plus the systems of jurisprudence are somewhat different.

  2. If you decide to study law in the United States and move to the U.K. you will be able to practice law but there are restrictions on the area of law you can practice in, what advice you can give and where you can work. Furthermore, you would not simply be allowed to move - you would require a work visa and permit in order to live and work in the U.K.

If you studied for your LL.B/LL.M. in the U.K. then you would still require a student visa to do this and if you wish to work in the UK after graduation then you will require a work visa and permit.

If you chose to study in the UK and then move back to the U.S. - you would need to go back to law school for an aditional 1-2 years and then pass your states bar exam.

My advice - study in the U.S. - it will work out cheaper and still allow you to practice in the U.K. but with restrictions - if you did want these restrictions lifted then you would have to do further studies in the U.K.
