  1. the milk called for when making boxed Mac and cheese is to simply thin the powdered cheese sauce, using water to thin the powder with not effect the taste...the powder it self contains powdered milk...

  2. Add a little bit of sour cream. Makes it tangy. Don't use much.

  3. Just dont use it, and add a bit more butter its just as good

  4. water probably wouldn't be right..soy milk or silk if you have it (the vanilla one adds a nice sweet taste to the macaroni)..you might want to add a bit more butter into it..but other than that there really isn't a sub..mac & cheese doesnt taste that bad without mik though..but it does come out thick..its still durable..hoped i helped..enjoy your mac & cheese :)

  5. For boxed Mac & Cheese you can skip the milk as long as you have butter or margarine.

  6. plain yogurt, sour cream, extra butter & some water....

  7. no not water but fo rmore flavor cook with olive oil and add garlic powder for flavor

  8. I've made it without the milk, just add more butter.  The water won't give it any flavor, just tastes  like cheese water. EW!

  9. If no powdered milk, sour cream or cream cheese, put heaps of extra cheese in.

  10. i think it would work ok with water but it wouldnt be as thick and creamy as with milk

  11. sour cream

it's better than milk for Mac & Cheese --- seriously!

  12. You can sub in sour cream, ranch dressing, mayo, whipping cream or cheese.

  13. I always use water and it taste fine.  You can put extra butter to make it creamier.  If you have shredded cheese you can cook the mac and cheese completely, then put it in a oven safe pan, pour the shredded cheese on top and put it in the oven at 350 degrees until it browns.  To add extra flavor you can put bread crumbs and butter on top also before putting in the oven.

  14. When I don't have milk, I just use extra butter.  I don't know about the water, I can't really see why it wouldn't be ok, I'd say use half of what is called for with the milk (1 cup milk sub 1/2 cup water kind of thing)   Good luck!

  15. add half the volume with mayo

  16. i've used water instead of milk for box mac n cheese  several times, comes out just fine, but i also add a little extra butter. also good with chicken broth.

  17. If you dont have milk water works just as well. I did that alot in college and never noticed a change. Or even a stock of some kind, like Veggie stock would work if your more vegan and have a organic vegan  mac n cheese.

  18. in not a good cook...really....i can barely cook macncheese!!! XD

but i think milk is the best...you can try water...but it depends what your using...like coke might be weird to sub...but you can always expeiriment! XD

    anybody answer mine?
