I ask myself this everyday. Can you still get a good job with a GED? Even go to college. Not a big college though, I already know you can't get into a big college with just your GED. But still, can you still succeed?

  1. Sure can. I have a GED and am a graduate of GSU. I have a BBA in Economics.

  2. u sure can dude GED(good enough degree) states Ur smrt enough to work anyware even in a big office building among the best  its all gravy the hardest part is the exam

  3. Well Bill Gates proved that you can succeed without a college degree! so yes you can succeed. Or at the least "it's possible."

  4. If your talking about financial success, then obviously you are less likely to succeed, but with hard work and determination w/ a bit of luck you can do anything.

  5. please do not stop there.....take night classes....and yes you can succeed.....

  6. Actually, you can go to a good college with a GED.  I got my GED my senior year.  It was what I thought was best considering my circumstances.  But, before I made that decision I went to the library and did some research.  I found that even ivy league schools accept GEDs.  You either have to have really high SAT and ACT scores or go to a community college for at least a year and apply as a transfer.  I did just that and was able to transfer to a university.

However, there are some things that you should consider that I wish that I had at the time.  If I had to do it all over again, I would have finished my senior year for the following reasons:

    -  I wish I had gone to senior prom and graduation.

    -  I never get to attend reunions and wish I could

    -  There are a lot of really great things to experience your senior year that I missed out on

    -  As a parent it is difficult to lead by example when I  essentially dropped out of school

As long as you don't do it because you are sick of school and you have a good and justifiable reason, then you will be okay with your decision later in life.  But, really give it some thought.  What I wouldn't do to be able to be in high school again...whether you believe it or not, these years can be some of your best!

    Good luck to you!

  7. a GED is just like a diploma, so, yes, you can get a good job with just a GED.  and sometimes, the smartest people have GEDs and get full rides to some pretty nice schools.  i know two kids (from the same family) who were both homeschooled their whole lives.  they both received full ride scholarships to three different schools.

  8. Yes you can succeed with a GED.  You can go to college which is useful if you get a degree that is useful make sure you choose carefully.  Something in the IT world or computer graphics/programing is big.  The medical field is also very much in demand right now.  Don't waste your money.  Trade schools are a great option as well.  The world is always always in need of HVAC and Plumbers, welders, and builders of all types.  I know so many lawyers, people with business degrees etc who struggle daily and live pay check to pay check because of the huge student loan debt they are paying off and the job market not being what they thought it would be.  The other place to look is landscaping and architecture degrees.  I have a college degree.  I don't use it.  It helps me every once in a while.  What do I do.  I tutor high school students for $25.00 an hour, I make stained glass art which I sell and that is enough income to supplement my husbands full time job nicely!  Do I consider myself successful--Very much so.  I also take care of my children and have the flexibility to do whatever I want whenever I want to!  You create who you are and what you are.  You determine your own success.  I have a friend with no diploma and no GED who started a candle making business who brings in over $100,000 a year.  I have another who has a masters who barely brings in $35,000.  You be the judge!  I think it all depends on what you are willing to invest of yourself, your creativity, and your determination.

    Good luck!

  9. Depends on the person... You can get a job with a GED I don't know what type of job you want to get but you can get one. It sounds like you want to further your education... try going to community college then transfering to a 4 year school. I had a friend do that and they ended up going to UCLA afterwards and now they're in law school

    Hope this helped

    Good luck

  10. You definitely can, my boyfriend got his GED went to college. After he went to college he got excepted into University... It is easier to get into UNI after you have already been to college.

  11. YES, absolutely, I am making more than any of my friends who went to college.  You must work hard though.  Keep in mind you will start at the bottom, because yo uhave not shown that you can stick to anything.  However, that does not mean you cannot succeed.  Start at the bottom, show dedication, respect, and tenacity you will grow in the company.  Make yourself known in the company, give SOLUTIONS, not problems.

  12. YES YOU CAN!!!!!!! I have a GED, and im in junior college right now and when im doneh her i will be transferring to a university. you can still get get a decent job because it has the same value as a high school diploma. when you get out of college no one is going to look at "oh he has a GED or a highschool diploma" they are going to look at the degree that you earned. I am very proud that i got my GED because i didnt get to graduate (2006) because of a stupid state test so i went ahead and did the GED and got it at the same time everyone was graduating, now im doing more with my life than some of the people i know who did walk across stage and some of them cheated their way through.

  13. dude, 98% of colleges accept GEDs so there is no reason you couldn't.

  14. Yes you can go to college with a GED and you can succeed with a GED but you should definitely think about what you really want.

  15. smashly has some good points... not get into a 'big college' with your ged? Thats wrong. I dropped out of high school, got my GED... and i'm a junior at UMASS right now and dong very well. So... its not Harvard, but its not a community college either. You can go to college if you try hard. If you dont think you'll be accepted into a 4 year school up front, try to go to a community college for a few semesters, get your grades up, do really well... then apply to a four year school. Im not saying that dropping out of high school was the best thing i did for my personal growth.. but i earned a GED and went to college so it really didnt make an impact on me in the long run.

  16. idk

  17. for you in particular I'm gonna say no, just cause your retarded.

  18. depends how you measure success

if your talking about financial success, then obviously you are less likely to succeed, but with hard work and determination w/ a bit of luck you can do anything

  19. Depends on what you think successful is.

  20. Anything is possible, but it would depend on what you wanted to do.  If you wanted to operate your own business, you could do so without any further schooling, and if you worked hard and had a good head on your shoulders you could succeed.

Further education will make success more likely though.

Why is this in the homeschool section?  Most homeschoolers get homeschool diplomas, not GEDs, and most homeschoolers go to college also.

  21. It's getting harder and harder to in today's world.

  22. You can succeed if you are motivated enough to succeed.

You can go to college. Start off with a Jr or community college, and see how it goes. if you do well, you can always transfer to a 4 year college.

Here' a little tip. No one really cares how big the college is. It doesn' matter if it's  a State Un iversity , or just a      state college. A degree is a degree is a degree.

Are you willing and able to work hard? If so, why can' you succeed???   There is no reason why you  can;t.
