1st off the beach and "old town" are about 1/2 hr bike ride apart. your not walking to both. there are some expensive swank places by the beach.  right in "old town" are dozens of nice places to stay ranging from $7 per nite on up. all have tv , ac, and hot water... no swimming pool in old town!your best bet would be to googel "hoi an" and search out the resorts by the beach.. another opption would be to stay at china beach in da nang and get a car[ 1hr about $4] to visit hoi an.  hoi an is a great place to eat, shop, walk around once or twice[ you can walk the whole city twice in an afternoon] but after that it can get tedious! about 4pm go down to the"cam nam bridge"[ you'll find it],seek out any of the middle aged women there and get a sunset boat ride on the river , if you get a woman who can sing ,it will be the high lite of your trip .. if you need more track me down on any of my open questions...."ROBBIE" IS THAT YOU?
