Can you suggest an awesome cover song?

Question

Can you think of any songs that could be shaped, adjusted, freshened up or simply would sound wicked covered, for female vocals? Something lively to get the crowd going for a 21 year old's birthday party with family & friends.

Not sure if you will have a guitar or something also, but both of these are good with acoustic guitar.

"Run Around" by Blues Traveler

its just G - C - Am - D with some variation.

Also check out "Hook" by Blues Traveler. I play this on acoustic guitar a lot. I have a female friend who sings this very well. It sounds good.

I guess i'm just in a Blues Traveler mood ;)

"Lump" by the Presidents of the United States of America is a fun song and could easily be turned around for a girl to sing it, and I think it would be fun for the occasion!

I would try It's The End of The World by R.E.M.

You'd get mad props for it, and it really isn't too hard to master.

If that's not so much your style, try Layla by Eric Clapton (g*y, i know) or Blame It On Cain by Elvis Costello. That song works great acoustic, and Dustin Kensrue covered it, and made it a little softer so it worked. Good luck!
