Can you suggest any musicians?

I'm looking to find folk musicians to listen to who have done something more interesting with their music/pushed the boundaries/experimented/done clever stuff (sorry lol can't think of any other way to phrase it). I need to listen to them as inspiration as apparently the folk music I write can be too predictable. If you can think of anyone please answer! Thanks!

  1. Sia

    Bret Dennen

    Missy Higgins

    Colbie Caillat

    Mason Jennings

    Bob Dylan

    Brandi Carlile

    Carbon Leaf

  2. There are 4 artists that I think fit your bill - they experiment with sound and really entice the ear.

Firstly, Duke Special - he is unique and just amazing, with an olde worlde, music hall'ish sound

Or, David Ford - what this man can do with a Loop pedal is amazing!

Or perhaps, Foy Vance - another genius with a real bluesy, folksy sound. Very clever song construction

Lastly, Johnny Flynn - definitely the one with the strongest Folk roots but brings a new element with the arrangements and the instrumentation.

All have myspace pages so check them out and enjoy!
