Can you suggest anything for New Years Eve in Sydney for my Parents first visit?

They are visiting from the UK, anything under $500 each would be good. I tried Sydney Cafe and Taronga zoo, any ideas?

Id say not to be standing around in the harbour, that gets packed with alot of alcohole, if your doing that, find one of the other viewing places.

Maybe have a New Years Eve party or barbecue and watch the fireworks in the park.

Their best bet would be to pack up a picnic and head to a waterfront beach or park (Double Bay or somewhere like that).  Or join the thronging masses at the Quay.

Don't waste the money. Just tell them to set up camp around Christison Park in Vaucluse or somewhere in Balmain. Good views, not as retarded crowds, and no money spent.

New years eve? I suggest watching the fireworks.. but they will have to get there early.. Pack a picnic for them..

Or dinner, in a fancy place.. or something.

How about Sydney Tower Restaurant? nice view both night and day. of course the fireworks!  it's always fabulous.

You should take them to eat at a nice restaurant at Harbourside in Darling Harbour... There's heaps of good restaurants around there...

A few years ago we were in Sydney for New Years Eve, and we went to a dinner at the Sebel Pier One right on the harbour. At midnight we walked out onto the veranda to watch the fireworks. They were amazing and it was as though they were coming right at us. Would highly recommend and it wasn't that expensive for a New Years Eve Dinner.
