  1. hi, i went in Madrid many years ago, i went to the Prado museum, Royal Palace, but i remember very well 'La Movida'!!! ;-D

  2. The Madrid "of the Austrias" (Madrid de los Austrias), is the "royal District", with the famous Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral, among others.

Next to that, there is the old town, with the "Plaza Mayor" or Main Square.

Next, the "Puerta del Sol" square, the Km. 0 of Spanish Roads. Around that there are several interesting streets, including "Gran Vía" (the Spanish "Broadway) and "Alcala Street", the "Puerta de Alcalá" (Spanish for Alcalá's Gate) that it's like a kind of triumphal arch.

I recommend you to try the famous Madrid's nightlife.

Closer to there, there is the famous g*y village, the "Chueca" District.

There are a lot of interesting buildings in those areas, including the "Palacio de Comunicaciones",  the "Fuente de Neptuno" (a beautiful spring) and the "Cibeles Square". All closer to "Gran Via" and "Alcalá St."

You musn't miss the "Paseo del Prado" (a drive) full of museums, like the world-famous "Prado Museum", and the "Retiro Park", a stunning green park, that highly worths a visit.

The modern avenue "Paseo de la Castellana" is very large and full of modern skyscrappers. At the end of the avenue, there are the famous KIO's towers or "Puerta de Europa", one of the most famous skyscrappers in Spain.

Another interesting places is the "Casa de Campo", a large field in Madrid, with the city's "Funfair" and the "Zoo-Aquarium", one of the best zoo parks in Spain

    I think that's enough ;-P.

Have a nice trip!! Enjoy the city!!

  5. I suggest the following Itineraries:

From Medieval Madrid to Madrid of the Asturias

We start our tour at the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), which takes its name at the start of the 16th century. Juan de Herrera was commissioned to remodel the old square of Arrabal, but construction wasn't begun until 1617 under the direction of Juan Gómez de Mora by order of Felipe III.

Teatro Real, Puerta del Sol and Alcalá

Our tour begins at the Teatro Real built by Queen Isabel II and remodeled and inaugurated in 1997 as the opera house.

From the Puerta de Toledo to the Parque del Oeste

Our itinerary begins in a popular area. The Puerta de Toledo (Toledo Archway) is located in themold quarter of Madrid called La Latina, which preserves the traditional flavor of the old part of the city.

Plaza de Cibeles, Puerta de Alcalá and Parque del Retiro

The Art Tour and Carrera de San Jerónimo

From the Gran Vía to the Plaza de España and Surrounding areas.

    And to organize your travel

  6. the Palacio Real (Royal Palace), the Almudena Cathedral (not too far), Debod temples (also very close), Plaza de Espana - all these are in Western part of Madrid.

And on the Eastern side, there is the Retiro Park with Crystal Palace and beautiful gardens, there is the Alcala Arch, Cibeles fountain, Prada museum, etc.

Here is the Madrid photo tour I found for you:
