For example, to the Diaspora by Gwendolyn Brooks, and I, Too, Sing America by Langston Hughes. The poem must have 12-35 lines.

  1. The Ballad of East and West by Rudyard Kipling.

It shows a romanticized view of British and Pathans, which Kipling believed was a true one. In an age when colour prejudice was accepted, he tried to show that the tribes of North west India were just as gentlemanly and civilised as the European.

Kipling's poems are full of racial identity.

  2. Bessie Woodson Yancey? i think she wrote songs about racial identity

  3. The closest I can find is about racism. It's called 'Definition of Racism' by Zaheed Patel. I was going to recommend 'I, Too, Sing America', but you all ready have it.

  4. check out the book "bronx masquerade" it is all about sterieotyps and it has many poems in it..    here is an example of a poem http://www.nikkigrimes.com/books/bkbronx...

  5. Try "Theme for English B." It's a poem by Langston Hughes about his black identity. I really liked it when I read it for class. Good luck.
