i would like to try a few swimming competitions but my college doesn't have a team, just a pool but i would like to participate in some division 3 meets anyway.

i used to run track and cross country so i know that it is possible to run unattached to a collegiate team for that so can you do the same for swimming?

  1. There are invitational open meets at certain pools, but those are not attached to a college division.

  2. There are certain meets that you can swim unattached but they are not usually dictated by NCAA standards, they are often "open" or "invitational" meets. You may want to contact your local swim club or nearby YMCA and ask about the Master's Swimming program. Master's team accept anyone over the age of 19 and they have frequent meets and championships. If you can scrape up enough interest on campus you can always start an exposition team that would race other collegiate teams in no-contest dual meets. That would take a bit of footwork and connections with your Athletic Director but if there is enough interest it is possible!

    Good luck
