Can you swim while on your period and not use a tampon?

Will I get sick or something? I'm not going to use tampon. lol I have to go swimming, i'm not allowed to not go swimming....

well, if your period is pretty heavy it'll bleed through your bathing suit pretty fast. i suggest you wear a tampon!

If you're a first-timer...you gotta do it sometime. just force yourself to, and it really sucks the first time, but it gets WAY easier if you use tampons more often.

When i was doing swimming, my coach (Dad) didn't care whether i was on my period or not, he said he doesn't wanna hear my excuses. So the first time it happened, i didn't use a tampon, it took me by surprise. Nothing happened, but i was constantly worried that i might leak or something. You won't get sick or anything, you can swim without a tampon. It would be better to wear one though, they are very comfortable.

Wear a tampon, you'll be fine.  If you're constantly in the pool, change it about once an hour.  If you're not constantly in the pool, change it as you normally would.

If you have contact with water when you are on your period it will stop whilst you were in the water but the second you are out of water your period will start. I would strongly advise wearing a tampon.

you can go swimming w/o a tampon on, but that would be very disgusting. Would you mind if someone did that while you were in the pool? Just wait a week.

You obviously have had no classes in Health, other wise you would know this.  Getting sick has nothing to do with it.  The reason you either don't go swimming, or go swimming with a tampon is because the blood will get all over your bathing suit and will go into the water.  Have you ever leaked on your pants on accident?  Imagine that happening to you but with a bathing suit.  Don't embarrass yourself, and wear a tampon.

omfg your so selfish, im never swiming again. your blood will be floating in the water and all you can think about is you getting sick, what about ever other person who may swallow a lil water with your blood in it. thats just sick and nasty. you should never do such a thing

You won't get sick. If you are bleeding heavily you may want to wear a tampon so blood doesn't get into the pool and cause embarrassment. If its on a very light flow day you probably won't need a tampon in the water.  If you are nervous about using a tampon, don't worry. There is no way it can get lost inside you or injure you or anything. Try O.B. Brand tampons in the smallest size and only wear it while in the pool if you are nervous about it. Make sure the string it outside of your body.

You won't get sick....but if you don't use a tampon you and everyone else around will be scarred for life.

No. That's gross. You won't get ill, but you will have blood on your swimming costume and in the pool. Would you not be embarrassed by that?

If you are going swimming in a lake they won't be able to see it in the water but they will when you get out and your suit is all red.

Pads won't absorb the blood if they are full of water!

You won't get sick, but it is unsanitary because you will be bleeding into the pool.  Not to mention that its possible that people will notice that you are bleeding and it will be quite embarrassing.  I recommend just using a tampon; they are actually really convenient.
