I am going on a cruise in 2 months to Cozumel, Mexico on the Carnival imagination. I was wondering how much it would cost to swim with the dolphins? And for people who have done this, is it worth the price? What are some of the funner things to do for the shore excursions? I tried calling Carnival and asked about pricing, and they told me I had to register on their website and they can't tell me the price! Anyone here know!? Thanks!!!

  1. If you are booked on a Carnival cruise, you can get details of their excursions [including exact price] by logging in with your confirmation number.  They usually do offer a "swim with the dolphins" excursion.

However, this can be easily done on your own.  You may want to make reservations ahead of time, as this is usually a very popular activity.  The dolphin swim activity is at Chankanaab Park, so go to their website for details.  Chank is a beautiful park, with everything you could want right there.

It is very easy to do excursions in Cozumel on your own.  Just grab a cab down to your chosen beach.  There will be cabs available when you're ready to go back.  The earlier, the better, as when the ships are in port the beaches get crowded.  Just be sure you get back to the ship on time, as they won't wait for you if you're late if you go on your own.  Also, be sure you know which of the three piers your ship is docked at, so your cabbie can more easily find it.

To get lots of details on excursions from experienced cruisers, go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards" at the top of the page, then go to "Ports of Call".

    Have a great cruise.

  2. Yes, by booking a shore excursion through Carnival you can swim with the dolphins.  If Carnival is not selling that excursion any longer, then you can book directly with some companies who offer swimming with the dolphins.  It usually ranges between $100 and $150 bucks per person. It is definitely worth it though.

    Have a great cruise.

  3. Yes, swimming with the dolphins would be a rather popular shore excursion especially in Cozumel (what an exotic destination that is ;])

Any ways if the excursion is already booked (which they do book up fast) go out independently. Do some research there are MANY representable companies in Mexico that would love to have your business. A lot of the tour companies will do like a single or two excursion deal. You can pick two excursions for a certain price. That's what we did. It was wonderful....Cozumel is a sort of scary place if your not with a group. A lot of soliciting that goes down especially BY THE DOCKING AREA.... even if you tender over. Its usually a small cost around 200 if you book with your cruise. But when we booked independently it was around 150 and we did the pick two thing. It is worth the price... but realize your really not swimming with the dolphins all that long. A majority of it is getting prepared. But other than that have a blast. Hope this helped tie up some loose ends on your question.

PS. after I went to Cozumel the first time an always hit for me would be PARADISE BEACH!!! Its free to get in they just ask that each person at least spends 10 dollars in food...(easy) especially for such a beautiful beach. The locals there are SOO nice as well. The best thing about Paradise beach is its about 15-20 min off the beaten path. But with the flat fee of a cab in Cozumel 20$ to get to the beach isnt anything. Their is a lot to do there from 1$ a min. massages to para-sailing to aqua obstacle courses. FOOD IS GREAT... The boose is great there to... the best Mojitos and Surfer on Acid I've EVER HAD!

    Happy Sailing!
