Can you switch from windows xp to mac leopard?

is it possible to buy mac leopard, then install it on a system that already has windows xp?

Well, kind of.  There are hacks available that let you, if you do some work first, though most of your hardware (sound, internet) probably won't work.  And you need to be pretty techie to get it to work at all.
