Can you switch the handle bar of a road bike to mountain bike handle bar???

i think it will probably be not comfortable to be on it.

  1. Yes you can, however it is often expensive to do so.  A lot of the cost depends on the age of the bike and the gear system.  Here's what will need to be replaced along with the handlebars:

    - Brake levers

    - Shift levers (if you're not using downtube or stem mount shifters)

    - Brake and shift cables

    - The stem (if the clamp of the new handlebars doesnt match the old

    What may be a better option is to get a stem that has a little bit of rise to it (higher angle) and keep your handlebars.  Road bike handlebars do offer many more hand positions than a mountain bike handlebar.  Just something else to think about.  A good bike shop can tell you everything you'd need for this conversion and give you an estimate.
