When you are in the process of buying a new car, and they give you the contracts to review and sign.... Can you take it home to review it on your own, and sign it and bring it back to the dealership the next day or the next following days to complete the deal?

(because I want to read through it carefully and find out exactly what is being charged in the comfort of my own home)

  1. I think that the car co. and maybe the finance company would nix that.  Their argument would be that the deal existed at that point in time with unique business circumstances that could very well be different in 5 minutes.

On the other hand, there is a federal law that allows 3 days to change your mind when applying for credit, but it only applies if you haven't taken delivery of the goods.

  2. I don't see why not . . . of course, an unethical dealer won't let you!!!

  3. Tell them thats what you want to do.  Its either that or no sale.  But be prepared to walk away if they refuse.
