I know they will have you lock it into your locker and can most likely only use it when told you can. But is it something they will let you take into the base (not locked up at reception)?

  1. NO you cant have any cell phones, pagers, game boys, Ipods, nothing for you enjoyment!

  2. It will be locked up along with the rest of your civilian stuff at reception. Just leave it at home. Your recruiter will give you a list of "bring" and "do not bring". Theo only things you should really bring are the clothes you're wearing, your photo id, social security card, $20 (for food on the way down), and a sheet of paper with address to write home.

  3. YOU CAN TAKE IT BUT DON'T EXPECT TO USE IT,I TOOK MINES AND NEVER USED MINES UNTIL GRADUATION DAY.MAKE SURE YOU CALL UP YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER AND TELL THEM YOU'RE GOING TO BASIC TRAINING AND THEY WILL SUSPEND YOUR SERVICE UNTIL YOU CAN USE YOUR PHONE AGAIN,THAT WAY THEY DON'T BILL YOU FOR THOSE 2 MONTHS YOU'RE AWAY.YOU CAN USE IT IN AIT THOUGH!

  4. When I went through you weren't allowed anything but I have heard more liberties have been given in BCT. Its a good possibility youll be able to use it being that your going to "relaxin jackson", POG's train there.

You'll know what I mean when you graduate, or after being there awhile

  5. You can. The DI will take them away from you at first, but when you are able to make a phone call they will let you use them.  They do this only because there is a limited amount of payphones (like 5), and a lot of soldiers.  I didn't have mine, so i got screwed out of some minutes with friends and family. I would take it just in case, you never know until they get there. And if they don't let you use them, they will be locked up with your civilian bag in some closet and you can get them when you graduate BCT
