Can you take a lighter in your carry on bag?

because i am going out of town soon and i was gonna bring my lighter in my pursee soo yeah! or can you even have a lighter while your flying or even in your bag? anywayss please answer and i will choose the best answer haha cool :)

No you can't.  They will take that away from you toot-sweet.  It's best to just buy one when you get to your destination.

About a year ago they lifted the restrictions on lighters.  I want to say it was August  2007.  It started to cost the TSA too much money to properly dispose of lighters.  I have flown on airplanes numerous time since then with my lighter.  So don't worry, your bic is not a threat to national security.  Trust me thank God they put money over national security.  Trying to light a cigarette with those matches on a windy day in Boston were horrible!
