Can you take a paternity test at your family doctors office, do you just call and say need a paternity test?

I need to have one done but have no idea how to go about doing it. Please help.

  1. Most doctors do not handle the chain of custody for dna tests. If you are doing this as part of a court order, you need to find a lab or doctors office that is accredited by the state and has the capability to follow a chain of custody.

    You could try using Labcorp. They have many offices across the country, but they are expensive. You could ask the clerk of court at the courthouse if they have a list of companies that do dna testing.


  2. Mine was appointed by the child support office.  I was sent to a independent lab for testing.
