I have a New York state permit that I got in April and will have at least 20 hours of supervised driving by October (after 6 months) but only with relatives. I haven't taken driver's ed. I was told that I could take my road test, get my junior license, and then take driver's ed, which would finish before my 17th birthday and so I'd still get a senior license at 17. Is this true? If not, is driver's ed necessary to take a road test? I just need to know what is required to take the road test in New York if you haven't taken driver's ed
