  1. Online classes will be the toughest classes you have ever taken.  I am sure of that! I don't want you to go into this misinformed.  You will have to spend many hours completing online courses.  They are not for the slouch.  If you are determined to work very hard, you can get a degree you can be proud of and possibly even do it in less time than with a standard school.  Yes, you can take the FVS program for full credit.  The classes you have already taken in high school will count toward your high school degree, too.

As for convincing your parents, just be honest about your desires to work hard and complete your degree without distractions.  If you know you are lazy, you will have to admit that and overcome it with the rigor of the online schedule.  You won't be able to merely do things on your "own time" because there will be a syllabus for each class and you will be required to have assignements in on time.  Late assignments will hurt your overall grade. However, it is true that, in a way, you complete the work on your own time.  You can turn off the computer to go out to eat lunch with your parents or do your school work at 1 AM, if that is when your body and brain work best.  Make sure you know what you are getting into and check your state's home school laws.  If you enroll in FVS, you will get a degree from a florida high school, but if you live in a different state, there may still be some home school laws of which you will need to be in compliance.  Check www.hslda.org for information on your state laws.  Do your research and show yor parents that you are driven to make your home schooling work.  If you have not been an independant worker in the past, you will have to assure them that this is one thing you will be learning through the virtual school.  One last thing,  you can't do a virtual school with just plain old dial up.  If that is what you have, it really is not possible to get the work done.  You will become frustrated with things like the server timing you out just when you go to send an assignment you spent 2 hours typing.  Can you say, "ARG!"?

    Best to you.

  2. Depending on what grade you are in here is one in florida that may help you. Yes most online charter schools are the same as any public school and they are accredited. As long as you are self motivated to do the work, being in an online school can actually be easier and take less time for an average student.

They offer grades k-8 and use k12 curriculum.

At this time they do not offer HS. Just make sure whatever school you decide to attend, that they are an accredited school and that they will help you get your state requires testing done ( proficiencies ) You should be fine, I have a son that graduated an online charter school that now attends a private university with scholarships.

  3. Virtual schools are very difficult but also quite helpful and conveinent!

Yes, you can take virtual school for a full year and get all your credits!

    check out www.flvs.net

    (Florida Virtual School)

I've been doing it for quite some time and yes it can be a real pain but it beats regular school. Have your parents check it out.

And if you join you have like a month's time to see if you like it and if it works for you. Just give it a try!
