My daughter takes concerta 36mg, and remeron 15mg. Can you take melatonin with these meds. I know I have to ask the doctor and I will, but I wanted to know if anyone else has an ADHD child who is not sleeping and has used Melatonin to help the sleeping

  1. You really need to ask your doctor.  He or she needs to know she is not sleeping.

  2. Ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Chamomile tea might help your child sleep-you did not mention her age, but i know catnip tea is for calming babies and toddlers-NOT valerian because it is too narcotic.

  3. Seriously talk it over with her doc.  If the Remeron isn't knocking her out, then you might want to either consider a different ADD med (Provigil isn't speed) or seeing a psychiatrist who is expert in psych meds.  The couple ppl I've know who tried melatonin didn't have much success.  I'd also be very reluctant to mess around with the natural hormones of a child.

  4. Yes you can. Melatonine is actually a natural product. In fact, what we have in our brains that makes us go to sleep is based on melatonin levels.

Try Remeron. They're drops. Or Tafil.

  5. Melotonin is a hormone produced by the brain as night falls. Darkness encourages production. It is the sleep hormone. How old is your daughter? Her weight may also be a factor in choosing a dose.
