Day One

What does it mean to be truly clean

To say that it’s over I’m out of the scene

Do we kid ourselves and act like fools

Going along by our own set of rules

Never knowing where why or when

We may step over the line again

Or is it the commitment to the Zen of NA

Challenging life in its own singular way

Taking on burdens one day at a time

Quoting from the absurd to the sublime

Maybe it means never taking a break

From no type of pleasure can you partake

As I write this I can’t help but think

My last may have been all I’ll ever drink

No more shall I ever do myself harm

Lord knows nothing can go back into my arm

This might be drastic extreme I suppose

Then I can’t justify it even if with my nose

Have things turned so much to the point

That I can’t even take a hit on a joint

What if I’m sick or feeling quite ill

Is it wrong if I fall back on one little pill

A dramatic measure for this situation

Will it stop me from all self-medication

Is there any one alive who has no debt to others for the hands held out to us, just in case?  Joseph Campbell pointed out we all must slay our dragon and become the hero of our life.  He didn't say it would be easy.

things arent as bad as they seem.......when one has a problem all he has to do is think about the next person whos problem is even worse....

Sounds like you have experienced this infidelity out of drunkeness and thought of suicide.

You say "from no kind of pleasure can you partake" You're wrong... There is SO much pleasure in life my friend... Just look around at the splendors that God has given you!! All you have to do is LOOK! I hope God will let yousee. God bless you and keep you!
