ACETAMINOPHEN W/CODEINE & CYCLOBENZAPRINE?

My doctor prescribed them to me lastnight in the E.R. Can I take a codeine one and the other together? Or do I take them apart? I took a ACETAMINOPHEN (Tylenol 3) about 10 minutes ago.. Since they were subscribed together, is it safe?

I can't call my doctor I normally go to until tomorrow.

  1. Is there an "ask a nurse" phone # in your phone book?  Or maybe there's one for on line you can find.  Better yet, if you can find a pharmacist, they are the drug experts, and could tell you right off if the two are compatible.  There might be a 24 hour pharmacist near you at a drug store, or one of those urgent care places might be able to answer you over the phone.

  2. Usually if they give you the rx, you can take them together.  Check out webmd.com for drug interactions.  I wish they would explain more before you leave......

  3. Acetaminophen w/ codeine is a common Rx for pain and cyclobenzatrine, a.k.a.  Flexeril is a muscle relaxant but it doesn't really work by relaxing  the muscles, it works on the brain instead. I think if you take them both together you're going to feel pretty doped up, i.e. drugged but in so far as their safety, that is up to your doctor.
