You have to call the airline you are flying with. Some airlines allow animals and others dont. If they do allow your pet to travel, you will have to pay for them.

Some airlines will let you as long as it's a small dog, big dogs will have to travel in the cargo.

It would still have to travel as cargo, that's why I would never take my dog to visit friends in Ireland, my dog would have to travel in the hold or on a ferry would have to stay in the car !! I would never allow that to happen, I even offered to pay for a seat for her but was told she would have to remain in the car and I was not allowed to stay with her. So we never went.
