Can you take your own food on plane?

i'm having a 4hr 30min flight to egypt in just under 2 weeks & i heard that they don't serve food on the plane if the duration of the flight is under 5 hours.

i was wondering if i can take my own food, maybe like a sandwich, crisps or drinks? the flight is early in the morning & i'll be up all night travelling to heathrow airport. i'm planning to grab a bite before i jump on the plane but i want to make sure i can also take my own food on it...

I carry food on every time I fly.  You can take drinks on board that are purchased after going through security.

well when i went on malaysia airlines they let me take food ont he plane for my CHECK-IN LUGGAGE but they wouldnt let me for my carry-on luggage.(They only let me bring drinks(water)).

You can buy snacks on board or after you clear security.You won't be allowed to take foodstuffs or drinks through security.

Depends the airline you fly,is it charter,or scheduled service.

If you fly low cost airline maybe you will have to buy onboard your food and drinks.

Liquids are not permitted to take with you on board.

International flights they serve food or at least a snack regardless the flight time.
