  1. Not all guinea pigs can be potty trained, so don't be upset if they don't pick up the idea. You will probably never teach them to p**p in one place; their digestion is designed to be constantly on the go, and stuff has gotta keep coming out in order to keep their systems working normally. I doubt any guinea would be quick enough to run to a litter tray each time they need to p**p - they would end up living in the tray otherwise!

    You can teach them to pee in one place though, which can be very useful. Generally, you just need to:

    * Have a low-sided litter tray - a kitten litter tray works well;

    * Fill it with absorbant bedding (aspen and CareFresh are among the best - avoid sawdust and straw) and clean it at least once daily;

    * Pop a hay rack above the litter tray - this encourages them to use the tray, and most piggies toilet as they eat so they end up using the tray a lot simply by eating the hay held above it;

    * Be patient! Don't forget, some guineas are just too lazy to grasp the idea. Don't get upset if they don't pick it up. Also don't punish them if they pee or p**p on people - it's a healthy thing for them, it shows that their digestion is working well. It's annoying for some humans, and if it gets annoying for you or your brother, have a towel on your knee as you cuddle your piggies.

  2. No, unfortunately they will just go whenever they have to empty their bladder. It's just what every rodent owner has to expect lol. If you don't like it going on you or the places you don't want it to, then every 20 min. I would put it in the spot you want it to go. There WILL be accidents, so just remember that. I'm sure it will work out for you.

    Hope this helped :)

  3. My guinea pig seems to pee on me sometimes when I am holding or cuddling her. She will also pee when she is on my bed so I have started to cover the blankets now if she is coming out. They can't seem to help it really, but now I think she is warning me when she needs to actually do it.

    Also, I now lay paper under her hay in her cage so it is easier to clean when she does a lot of it in there.

  4. they naturally learn not to pee on you as they grow older. every time they pee/poo on you scream or something or say "NO" and give the pig a bath, they learn not to do it...

    My guinea pigs are very good about it...they hold it in! they try not to even pee on carpet or fabrics! One time I had my pig in the car with me and she hopped off of me and into the middle part of the car in the front, and then peed in the cup-holder!!! And the seats and rest of the car were fabric, but the cupholders were plastic so they didnt soak it up! Good little piggy!

  5. You could, but it would be difficult because guinea pigs wouldn't realize that it's a bad thing the way dogs do.  Some guinea pigs naturally do that, others don't.

    If they do, then put a low edge tray or something over the spot that they like.  Maybe put something easy to remove and clean more regularly underneath their hidey house.  That way a lot of poops will be easily removed.
